Cragside in Northumberland is a fine example of Victorian architecture. The creation of the 1st Lord Armstrong, a great inventor and engineer, it is looked upon as being the most technologically advanced home of its time. Inside and out, the detailing is exquisite and diverse in style as, during the Victorian reign, a great number of historical periods and their styles were popular simultaneously, and all were freely interpreted and mixed.

Vale's Cragside conservatory has a delicate framework, punctuated by striking columns. The deep head section can either remain plain or be decorated with studs.
